Our families were close as we kids were growing up, and it was a joy to see all the pictures on display at the time of Bob's funeral. Pastor Tim's good imitations of Bob's "upbeat" greetings were also right on.

But a very special memory I have of Bob is his getting me started on the clarinet. If I remember correctly, I'd been given a toy clarinet early in grade school, and Bob told me he had a clarinet, too. I likely bugged him about it for a couple of years until he showed it to me. It was a metal instrument he'd probably played in high school - and he was perhaps not its first owner. Then, when he finally introduced me to it and showed me the basics, he loaned it to me to practice on.

By junior high age, I wanted to take clarinet lessons, and the folks bought me my own more standard, wooden clarinet. I went on to play the clarinet, and then other woodwind instruments in high school band, but Bob was the one who got me started. That, among the many other memories of Bob, is one I'll never forget!

It was a privilege to play the organ at his funeral service. All my sympathy to Roxanne, JoEllen, and their families.

Bob was such a favorite of Rich's. Rich cared deeply for Bob and Peggy as well. Marge Johnson, my mother-in-law, was so close to Peggy and Bob for many, many years. I feel fortunated I had the opportunity to know them both.
My sympathy, love and prayersa to all. Shanon Johnson
