Beauferd W. Schmidt, 73, of McPherson, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013, surrounded by his family at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was the owner & operator of Schmidt Trucking and worked in the gas and oil business.

He was born on March 6, 1940, in rural Galva, KS, the son of David D. and Dena (Nightingale) Schmidt. He graduated from Sunflower School. He was united in marriage to DeAnn Williams on November 22, 1963, in McPherson, KS.

He attended New Hope Evangelical Church, McPherson.

Survivors include: his wife, DeAnn of the home; sons, Tony Schmidt (Karla) of McPherson, KS, Terry Schmidt (Cheryl) of McPherson, KS, and Heath Schmidt (Leesa) of Galva, KS; six brothers, Chester Schmidt (Florene) of Galva, KS, Allen Dean Schmidt (Elsie) of Topeka, KS, Kermit Schmidt of McPherson, KS, Howard Schmidt (Judy) of Galva, KS, Orman Schmidt (Glenda) of McPherson, KS, and Norman Schmidt (Karlene) of Galva, KS; two sisters, Ada Koehn of Burns, KS and Madeline Jantz of Galva, KS; mother-in-law, Tennie Williams of McPherson, KS; sister-in-law, Bette Leslie (Bob) of Nixa, MO; and six grandchildren, Kayley, Caleb, Paige, Madison, Sylas, and Samuel Schmidt.

Beauferd was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Sadie Ratzlaff, Esther Ratzlaff, and Roselen Schmidt, three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, two nephews, and one niece.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 29, 2013, at New Hope Evangelical Church with Rev. Jim Keil officiating. Burial will follow at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
