Marjorie Elaine Hawkinson, 90, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Sterling House, McPherson. She was a homemaker and also had worked as an office clerk at the McPherson County Courthouse and was a Real Estate Agent.

She was born on January 16, 1923, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Harry A. and Gladys (Cunningham) Ek. On October 4, 1941, Marjorie was united in marriage to August Eugene "Gene" Hawkinson at the New Gottland Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2002.

Marjorie was a member of the New Gottland Lutheran Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #24. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include: daughter, Sherry Truesdell and husband, Delbert, of Hutchinson, KS; three grandchildren, Martin Peterson and wife, Laura, Michael Peterson and wife, Christina, and Lance Truesdell and wife, Cyndi; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Phyllis Jeanne Darling, brother, Galen Ek, sisters, Phyllis Marie Shoemaker, Bonnie Mogenson, and Eula Lee Ek, and grandson, Anthony "Tony" Peterson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 20, 2013, at the New Gottland Lutheran Church with Rev. Harry Grinstad officiating. Burial will follow at the New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the New Gottland Lutheran Church Building Fund in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
