Maurine (Unruh) Christensen, 82, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at The Cedars, McPherson. She was born July 2, 1930, in Galva, KS, the daughter of Elias T. and Susie (Schultz) Unruh. A lifetime resident of McPherson County, she retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She also worked at Hardee's and Burger King.

On March 15, 1949, she married Glen L. Christensen in McPherson. He died on September 19, 2004.

She belonged to the Countryside Covenant Church. She also volunteered for Trash-to-Treasures, Sew & Share, and Save 'N Share. She was past member of the Sunflower M.I. Hummel Club, MO-KAN Hummel Club, National M.I. Hummel Club, and Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include: a son, Michael Christensen of Overland Park, KS; two daughters, Dianna Heidebrecht and Debbie (Mark) Unruh, both of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Angie (Shane) Godwin of McPherson, KS, Will (Erin) Heidebrecht of Olathe, KS, Billy Christensen of Tampa, FL, Becky Christensen of Shawnee, KS, Ann (Cale) Dark of Overland Park, KS, Tricia Christensen of Shawnee, KS; six great-grandchildren, Kobe Unruh, Shelby Christensen, Eric Christensen, Kaden Godwin, Addison Heidebrecht, and Bentley Godwin; two brothers, Arvin Unruh of Moundridge, KS, Derald (Shirley) Unruh of Galva, KS; two sisters, Florence (Les) Dearing of Easton, PA, and Thelma Gibson of Bixby, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and nine sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Countryside Covenant Church with Rev. Jon Black & Kenneth Busse officiating. A private inurnment will be held at the McPherson Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
