Robert D. Sellberg, 87, of McPherson, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was a retired farmer and Postal Worker, having worked at the McPherson Post Office from 1959 to 1988.

He was born January 1, 1925 in Marquette, Kansas, the son of Arthur T. and Ellen E. (Olson) Sellberg. Robert was a 1941 graduate of Marquette High School. After high school, Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On November 4, 1953, he was united in marriage to Peggy J. Sitts in McPherson, Kansas. This marriage was blessed with two daughters; JoEllen and Roxanne. Peggy preceded him in death on October 9, 2001.

Robert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and McPherson V.F.W. Post #2715.

Survivors include: two daughters, JoEllen Barnard and husband, Douglas, of Kansas City, MO and Roxanne Sellberg and husband, Gary Tallman, of Evanston, IL; four grandchildren, Ian, Neil, Hannah, and Mayalisa Barnard; and a sister, Rosalie Borg of McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, LeRoy Sellberg, and sisters, Marie Larson, Adeline Schafer, and Grace George.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 17, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Leaf officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
