Fern E. Martinson, 91 of McPherson, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at The Cedars, McPherson. Fern was born on August 28, 1917, in Dickinson County, Kansas, the daughter of Andrew and Rhoda (Duffy) Kean. She graduated from High School in Salina, KS. On April 22, 1938, she was united in marriage to Elmer C.L. Martinson in Newton, KS. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1997. Fern was a homemaker and reflexologist.
Fern was a member of the New Gottland Lutheran Church, 4-H Club and Project Leader for over 30 years, and the Hilton Homemakers E.H.U.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 3, 2009, at the New Gottland Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the New Gottland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Survivors include: son, Bill "Meatball" Martinson of McPherson, KS; daughter, Patricia A. Johnson and husband, John LeRay, of McPherson, KS; sisters, Helen Lopshire of Salina, KS and Eleanor Martinson of McPherson, KS; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer C.L. Martinson; son, Donald Eugene; two brothers, Frank Kean and Loren Kean; and four sisters, Edith, Virginia Hulse, Janice Carter, and Leona Kean.
Memorial contributions may be given to the New Gottland Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home.
