Lois Gertrude Lackey Hayes, 100, of McPherson, passed peacefully into eternal life Friday, January 20, 2012, at The Cedars in McPherson. She was a homemaker and served as the Secretary for the McPherson Church of the Brethren and of the Brethren Church District Office.
She was born December 1, 1911, in Vale, Oregon, the second daughter of Clinton Milo and Agnes May (Law) Lackey. Lois graduated from high school in Fruitland, Idaho and attended McPherson College, where she also served as Secretary to the College President. She had been a McPherson resident since 1942, having lived in Ellsworth and Chapman.

December 1, 2011, her 100th Birthday was celebrated with an Ice Cream Sundae Party at The Cedars. 100+ family and friends gathered to wish her well and share the fellowship. Guests enjoyed a 100-year-timeline and many photos of Lois' long life. That occasion was documented by an article in The Senior News of The Sentinel, December 16, 2011.
